Dr. Usama Tayyab, DVM, MSc, M.Phil., PhD, AAg

Dr. Usama Tayyab is a seasoned expert in the field of animal science and dairy nutrition, with a rich academic and professional background. Currently, he serves as the Feed Division Manager at Otter Co-op in Langley, British Columbia, where he oversees the formulation and production of animal feed, ensuring the highest standards of feed safety through training and compliance with CFIA regulations. His role extends to managing two commercial feed manufacturing facilities, driving logistics and supply chain management, and leading a team of over 55 professionals.



Dr. Usama Tayyab's academic journey is distinguished by a PhD in Dairy Nutrition from Harper Adams University in the UK, where he focused on the role of functional fiber in forages on rumen function and dairy cow health. He also holds an MSc in Animal Science from Aarhus University in Denmark and another MSc in Animal Science from the University of Debrecen in Hungary, with a strong emphasis on sustainable animal nutrition, nutrient cycling, and feed evaluation.

His professional experience spans across various roles in different countries, including the UK, Denmark, and Pakistan, where he contributed to research in dairy cow nutrition, methane production, and animal health. Dr. Usama Tayyab has also worked as a Veterinary Officer at the Buffalo Research Institute in Pakistan, a Farm Manager at Malik Dairy Farm, and as a Research Associate at the University of Veterinary & Animal Science in Lahore.

Dr. Usama Tayyab is a recognized leader in his field, evidenced by numerous awards such as the Silver Medal in Veterinary Medicine, the NestlĂ© Cash Award during his MPhil, and the Solve Agri Pak Gold Medal for Livestock Management. He is an active member of various professional organizations, including the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council, the American Society of Animal Sciences, and the Canadian Society of Animal Sciences.

Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Usama Tayyab is deeply involved in community service. He is a Professional Development Coordinator at the British Columbia Institute of Agrologists, and a Director at the Langley Sustainable Agriculture Foundation. He volunteered as member of the Agricultural Advisory and Economic Enhancement Committee in the Township of Langley

Dr. Usama Tayyab's commitment to research and continuous learning is reflected in his publications, available on ORCID and Google Scholar, as well as his completion of various professional development courses.
